ABOUT US

Penticton and District Search and Rescue is an all volunteer organization that has been in existence since 1973 providing service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Penticton and District Emergency Services Society is a non-profit organization and is wholly supported by donations and public grants from the community.

Our volunteer team responds to approximately 50 calls for service each year and commits over 11,000 hours annually.

Like all SAR Teams in BC, our team members purchase and maintain their own equipment, and dedicate time every week to be ready for our next call.

Our services are at no cost to the people we rescue

PENSAR is activated by a request from the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) by a tasking agency (Police, Ambulance, BC Coroners Service, Fire Services or Local Government).

PENSAR operates under the policies, procedures and guidelines set out by Emergency Management BC which include standards for safety, training, rescue equipment and guidelines under which a SAR group may be activated.

In an emergency, dial 9-1-1
